what i do

beth kantrowitz

INDEPENDENT curator

I am an independent curator representing  emerging and mid-career, contemporary artists primarily from the Northeast.

INDEPENDENT CURATOR
Most people know me as the Co-Director of Drive-by Projects in Watertown, MA and previously the acclaimed Allston Skirt Gallery in Boston.  I have 20+ years of experience with artists working in all media in Boston and beyond. This gives me a unique perspective on the arts community - inspiring me to curate thought-provoking exhibitions at galleries and unusual venues.

Let's work together to find the perfect work of art for your home or office. I will put all of my resources together to define, search out and capture your 'art crushes'. Drawing on my relationships with artists, other curators and dealers, I can handle all aspects of the transaction - identify under-valued artists and emerging talent, sending images or arranging studio visits, negotiating terms and discounts – all the way to framing and professional installation.

🔵Opening reception: June 9 from 3-5 pm
On view: May 9-June 9, 2026
featuring
🔵rebecca roberts and john roy
Now more than ever, we need to find ways to quiet the noise. It’s crucial to remain still as the world around us continues to fill our minds and hearts with stories of sadness and chaos. Rebecca Roberts works on paper, and John Roy’s paintings collaborate to create a visual and emotional calm that allows us to pause and enter a slower, quieter, more contemplative space.

Please join us @ drive-by projects Saturday, May Please join us @ drive-by projects
Saturday, May 16, 3-5pm for the opening of
“Unfurl” featuring
Katrine Hildebrandt🧡

Drive-by Projects is pleased to present Unfurl, a solo exhibition of mixed media works by Katrine Hildebrandt. Hildebrandt’s multi-process works, seemingly fragile yet strong, could serve as metaphors for the human condition. As she folds, forages, dyes, burns, and sews, Katrine Hildebrandt creates unique works that are at once structured and fluid, disciplined and poignant.
In this body of work, I am revisiting a series started three summers ago — one rooted in caregiving, in the fragile and luminous web of our relationships and lives . . . These works continue to explore the innate potential within us — the quiet force that pushes toward blooming, toward opening, toward becoming more fully conscious of ourselves and one another.

About Juli’s painting:
The paintings presented in “Beauty Party” are an extension of New York based artist Juli Raja’s 16-year career as a textile & collections designer for the label, Juli Raja
hand built. Elaborate & intricate processes play the pivotal role in the making of her
textiles. The woven fabric is created on a grid, as are her paintings. The woodblocks
used in her print designs are hand carved from her original drawings by highly skilled
Artisans in two Indian cities-Kolkata & Jaipur. The method by which these 6 inch square
woodblocks are dipped into assigned dyes, pressed onto the fabric and repeated is a
precise mathematical system, resulting in a one-of-a-kind fluid print. Accuracy,
placement and proportion are essential to allow your eyes to move effortlessly across
the surface. Juli’s appreciation for the balance between ingenuity and tradition in her
work is an expression of her love and hopes for the interconnected human-animal
worlds of togetherness. The characters and locations she creates in both her paintings
and woodblock printed textiles are derived from her own life experiences. For every
wildlife reserve or historically significant architectural city she has explored, there is a
memory she taps into to curate many of the visual components that are the building
blocks of her myth-poetic, story base paintings. As with visual influences, the auditory
rhythm of music is also present. Within this exhibition of paintings & textile collections,
Juli invites you to associate a particular musical artist or a song with the work.
